All-state soccer teams revealed

BENNINGTON >> The all-state teams for boys and girls soccer were named on Friday, with a handful of local players earning accolades.

In Division-I boys, Mount Anthony senior defender Issac Salem and senior striker Carter Bentley — the Patriots' leading scorer this season — are part of the team. For BBA, senior defender Jack Ams and senior forward Wes Lord were also named to the squad.

In Division IV, Arlington had three all-state selections. Senior midfielder Colin Lawler and senior defender Nathan Mattison were chosen, along with junior forward Jared Lacoste. Long Trail had a pair of all-state players in junior Evan Crumb and sophomore Will McCullough.

On the girls side in D-I, BBA had three selections after a 17-1 campaign. Senior forward Aggie Bisselle was chosen, along with sophomore midfielders Hannah Pinkus and Georgia Lord. Mount Anthony junior center back Allie Boudreau was lauded for the Patriots.

In D-IV, Long Trail's Mikeala Martiros was an all-state choice.

Twin State field hockey roster announced

BENNINGTON >> The Vermont field hockey roster for the Twin State game with New Hampshire was announced on Friday, with a player from Mount Anthony and Burr and Burton Academy making the squad.

Competing for Vermont when the game is played this summer will be Mount Anthony's Kori Bow, a midfielder, and BBA's Cydney Jeffrey, also a midfielder.

The team will be led by Middlebury coach Megan Sears.

Bennington men's basketball league looking for teams

BENNINGTON >> The Bennington Men's basketball league is in need of more players and teams for the upcoming season.

Games are Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8:45 p.m. and Saturdays at 6, 7 and 8 p.m.

The fee for a team is $550 and that guarantees 10 games.

Dodgeball at Arlington

ARLINGTON >> Arlington Memorial High School is hosting a Dodgeball Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the gymnasium. For those who register before Saturday, the cost to participate is $8 per person or $35 for a team of five players. Individual players will be assigned to a team. Registration on the day of the tournament is $10 per player and $40 per team.

Teams will compete in two age levels: middle school and high school/adult. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team in each age group. A concession stand will be available throughout the tournament. Proceeds benefit the AMHS Class of 2017.
