African Dance Vermont presents West African drum and dance classes
BRATTLEBORO - On Wednesday, June 25 African Dance Vermont presents a West African drum class for all levels from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. with instructor Namory Keita.
The classes will be held at the Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main Street in Brattleboro, with a cost of $10.
Namory has been the lead drummer for his village of Sangbarala, Guinea since 2006 and has taught all over the world. He is on recordings and has been a consultant for a documentary filmmaker on the region that he is from. He is a fabulous djembe player and a generous teacher who is experienced at teaching across cultures and skill levels. He is known for his love of his village, his respect for traditional music and his infectious joy of life. Take a class with Namory and experience the joy of learning from a masterful player and teacher.

At the Brattleboro Stone Church, 210 Main St., the African Dance Vermont presents West African dance class for all levels with instructor Pape Ba. Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and bring a water bottle. Class will be accompanied by live drumming.
Elhadji Mamadou "Pape" Ba is a master drummer and dancer from Senegal, West Africa. While in Senegal, he was a member and director of Les Ballets National du Sangomare. He also taught dance and performed extensively throughout Senegal. Since coming to the United States in 2006, Pape taught in Burlington and currently teaches in Northampton, Mass. He has continued to teach dance and drum and perform throughout New England. Sliding scale $12-15.
