A letter, comic from a young reader
Editor's note: We received this adorable letter and two pencil-and-paper comic strips from talented young local artist Deanna Oakes. We had room for just one and selected "Leroy the Lunatic" to share with you. Per her instructions, we did not spoil the surprise for Deanna. Below is her letter:
Dear Ms. Karas, editor,
My name is Deanna Oakes. I am 9 years old and I love reading the comics, so I decided to write my own, 1. Leroy the lunitic, and 2. Deanna the Detective. I wrote 2 so you could decide, or put both of them in, but you don't have to put any of them in. I just thought it might be cool to see my own comics in the paper. Again, you don't have to put any of my comics in the paper but it would be cool if you did. Please write back and tell me what I can do to make it better, or if it is ok already. But please don't tell me if it will be in the paper if it will be. I'd like that to be a surprise. Thank you.
Deanna L. Oakes
