20gallery90 Opening Reception and Music at the HAYC3 Armory

Thursday April 4, 2013

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- On April 5 from 6 to 8p.m. The 120 Gallery will be opening "2"XToo"Tiny" by the Hoosick Artist Guild. This show will be a unique collection of 2 inch by 2 inch canvas paintings. Gallery 90 will be opening a show of installation and sculpture, "I will miss you," by Gilbane Peck.

Gilbane’s work has been exhibited in the northeast and at many emerging artist venues in New York City and Brooklyn. Recently, Gilbane received Honorary Mention for best Sculpture Exhibit and Music Performance of Bococa Arts Festival in Brooklyn, NY. Karen Swyler, Nationally recognized ceramic artist and Professor of ceramics, mixed media sculpture, and 3D design at Green Mountain College writes,

"Gilbane’s mastery of sculptural assemblage allows him to collect and recycle used and discarded objects to give them new life. Gilbane creates poetic relationships through the juxtaposition of these seemingly unrelated objects in new contexts. This work poignantly addresses ideas about the impact we have on our environment. In today’s world these ideas bring a heightened sense of urgency and give the work added significance."

At 7:30 p.m. Gilbane will be performing in the Owls Nest as part of the Music in Hoosic campaign. The Music in Hoosic campaign began a few months ago by a small group of Hoosick residents that wanted to bring monthly musical performances to Hoosick Falls and support their local musicians. Gilbane’s musical work is a simulated combination of voice, keyboard, guitar, and violin which parallels his unique sculptures that inhabit his installations.

During the evening’s attendees will be invited to work on a community installation piece the will be evolving throughout the evening which will focus on line and pattern. Guests may design patterns on square and rectangular blocks that can be assembled into endless combinations for a future interactive display in the community.
