SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Springfield police and federal agents have arrested two armed men they describe as dangerous suspects with prior felony convictions, including one allegedly involved in the illegal sale of firearms.
Police and ATF agents surrounded a vehicle at a city gas station at about 4 p.m. Thursday and arrested 26-year-old Tyrone Jones of Springfield. Police say Jones was carrying a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun loaded with 14 rounds that had been reported stolen in a Brattleboro, Vt., housebreak.
He was charged with various firearms offenses.
Police and ATF agents also arrested 24-year-old Dashaun Scott of Springfield on Thursday. He is suspected of selling a gun earlier this week. Police also recovered a rifle. He too faces several gun charges.
Both men are scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
