2 arraigned in Vermont Gas protest


SOUTH BURLINGTON (AP) - Two men involved in a protest at Vermont Gas in South Burlington have pleaded not guilty to trespassing charges.

A group that opposes a Vermont Gas natural gas pipeline to extend service to Addison and Rutland counties protested outside of the company's headquarters on May 27.

Police said two protesters went to the roof to display a banner while other demonstrators distracted a receptionist.

The Burlington Free Press reports that 25-year-old William A. Bennington of Plainfield was arraigned Tuesday and 35-year-old Henry Harris of Peacham was arraigned Wednesday.
