MONTPELIER (AP) - Vermont Lt. Governor Phil Scott has been named to the leadership committee of the National Lieutenant Governors Association.
Scott is serving as the Eastern Region-At-Large Republican of the NLGA Executive Committee. Association Director Julia Hurst says Scott was elected to the post by a unanimous vote of officials of both parties and every region of the country.
Scott earlier this year joined Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam of Virginia to sponsor a resolution that won unanimous association backing. It called on Congress to craft a long-term plan to fix the nation's roads and other transportation infrastructure.
Scott says he's pleased Congress recently passed a short-term transportation bill, but a long-term fix is needed.
