SOUTH ROYALTON (AP) -- The Vermont Law School says constitutional law professor Cheryl Hanna has died.

The South Royalton-school announced Hanna’s death Monday in a news release.

The school described her death as "untimely," but did not provide details.

The death was confirmed by law school spokeswoman Maryellen Apelquist.

The Burlington Free Press reported the 48-year-old Hanna was found unresponsive in her Burlington home on Sunday and that she was pronounced dead at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

Hanna was a graduate of the Harvard Law School.

She was cited frequently by Vermont media, including The Associated Press.

Last Thursday she commented on a federal judge’s decision to order a new trial in a death penalty case.

Hanna is survived by her husband and two children.
