MONTPELIER (AP) - Vermont officials are promoting a new regional marketing strategy called Strengthening Southern Vermont.
The tagline for the campaign is "So Vermont" and planned tourism advertisements tell visitors to "Become a Vermonter for a weekend."
The campaign is funded through a federal grant to the Windham and Bennington Regional Planning Commissions. Organizers hope the effort will increase tourism and create jobs in southern Vermont.
Vermont Public Radio reports that regional planners say they need to bring more business, workers and tourists to the area.
The state has pledged $75,000 to the campaign.
Organizer Laura Sibilia of the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation says they hope to start the marketing campaign in the fall.
