RUTLAND (AP) - U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy says the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a field hearing in Vermont on the fight against heroin and opioid addiction.

According to Leahy, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the witnesses will include the U.S. attorney for Vermont, the Rutland police chief, the Vermont health commissioner, the director of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Burlington and the director of the Vermont State Police.

Leahy says Vermonters are actively working on solutions to addiction problems and that no community is more united than Rutland in tackling such challenges.

The hearing is 1 p.m. Monday in the Franklin Conference Center at the Howe Center in Rutland.
