MONTPELIER (AP) - The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is seeking fishing instructors to teach Vermont kids about the tradition of fishing.

Officials say the instructors would be responsible for organizing and teaching clinics in their communities for young people.

Department officials say they will be hosting two free training sessions for prospective fishing instructors, where they will learn about teaching techniques, fishing ethics, aquatic ecologies, fishery management, conservation and tackle craft.

The classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 29 in Castleton and on April 5 in Essex Junction with curriculum materials and lunch provided.

Officials say pre-registration is required, with a deadline of March 14. Registration can be done online at www.mychamplain.net/letsgofishing or by email at letsgofishing@mychamplain.net.
