BURLINGTON (AP) -- Vermont officials say they are thrilled the discount airline Allegiant Air is going to be offering direct flights between the Burlington International Airport and Orlando, Fla.
Officials say Allegiant Air will begin twice-a-week service between Burlington and Orlando on Feb. 19.
To celebrate, the airline is going to offer fares as low as $67 each way.
Currently, Orlando is the third most popular destination for travelers leaving Burlington, after New York and Washington.
Allegiant Air already offers direct flights from Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Orlando.
Vermont transportation Secretary Brian Searles says state agencies of Transportation and Commerce and Community Development are going to help market the route.
