MONTPELIER >> The Vermont Senate is set to debate final passage of a bill to create a new state Ethics Commission.
The bill aims to slow the revolving door in which people move from the government to the private sector. It does not give the new five-member commission oversight over lawmakers themselves, something the state Constitution says cannot be handed off to anyone but lawmakers.
But the Senate adopted rules imposing the same ethical standards on itself that the bill would apply to the executive branch.
The bill is up for final Senate action on Wednesday before going to the House.
