NORTHPORT, N.Y. (AP) -- Police have arrested an assistant principal at a Long Island high school after they say he sent inappropriate texts to students and faculty members.

Suffolk County Police say 47-year-old Craig Cohen was arrested at his Northport home Monday morning on charges of aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say Cohen is an assistant principal at Wyandanch Memorial High School and has been employed at the school for about eight years. They say Cohen sent the texts, some of them sexual in nature, to various students and faculty members in February and March of this year.

Cohen is to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today. Information on his lawyer was not immediately available.
