NEWPORT (AP) -- Six people convicted of trespassing during a protest against construction of an industrial wind-power project in northern Vermont have been sentenced to 25 hours of community service each.
The people were arrested a year ago on Lowell Mountain while they blocked a road used to build the Kingdom Community Wind Project owned by Green Mountain Power.
The Burlington Free Press identifies the six as Dr. Ron Holland of Irasburg, Anne Morse of Craftsbury Common, David Rodgers of Craftsbury, Ryan Gillard of Plainfield, Suzanna Jones of Walden and Eric Wallace-Senft of Woodbury.
The protesters released a statement on Tuesday saying they would serve their sentences as part of the price what they said was "moving the conversation forward."
2 deny robbing student
BURLINGTON (AP) -- Two men have pleaded not guilty to charges that they assaulted and robbed a University of Vermont student in a college parking lot last week. Police say 18-year-olds Eli Baron and Michael Benedict beat up 19-year-old Jarrett Clark.
