NEEDHAM, Mass. (AP) -- Gymnast and Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman has been honored with a hometown parade that drew thousands of fans in Needham.

The Boston Globe reports that the 18-year-old was seated atop a yellow Lamborghini convertible that rolled from Needham Town Hall to a baseball field in front of Needham High School on Sunday. She smiled and waved to an enthusiastic crowd.

Raisman captained the U.S. women’s gymnastics team to a gold medal in London before winning individual gold in the floor exercise and bronze on the balance beam.

She says this summer has been the best of her life. She told her hometowns fans, "I hope I made you all proud."
