BENNINGTON >> The Mount Anthony boys soccer team bounced back from their loss to rival BBA in the finals John James tournament, with a 8-0 victory over Stratton Mountain on Thursday night.

Leading 2-0 going into the second half, the Patriots offensive erupted for six goals in the second period, with Ben Winslow and Franklin Cody each scoring two goals in the half to lead MAU to their fourth win of the season.

Matthew Anderson, Josh Comalli, Jack Bushee and Brian Grace all scored a goal for the Patriots in the win.

With the win, the Patriots improve to 4-2 on the season

MAU will travel to play Rutland in their next contest on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Patriots blanked by Taconic

BENNINGTON >> The Mount Anthony girls volleyball team dropped all three sets to Taconic on Thursday night, losing 9-25, 15-25 and 13-25.

Brooke Young had 22 break-set assists for the Patriots in the loss.

Mackenzie Maynew had four aces in the loss for MAU.

With the loss, the Patriots drops to 0-4 on the season.

The Patriots will look to win their first match of the season when they host Pittsfield today at 5:30 p.m.

Panthers drop first match of the season

SARATOGA, N.Y. >> There will be no perfect regular season for the Hoosick Falls golf team this year.

The Panthers dropped their final match of the regular season, losing to Spa Catholic 1 1/2 - 3 1/2.


Ryan Bloomer won his match 1 up to get the Panthers started off on a winning note, but things soon went south for Hoosick Falls as Mathew and Connor Smith both loss their to give Spa Catholic the lead.

Hayden Smith then got Hoosick Falls back into the match with a tie, giving Hoosick Falls a chance to tie the match with their fifth player Gavin Playotes.

Playotes though was unable to get Panthers to a tie with Spa Catholic, losing his match 4-2 and allowing the Saints go home winners.

Even with the loss, Hoosick Falls still finishes the season as the Wasaren League champions.

The Panthers will next compete in the Wasaren League invitational, where the top four players of each team will compete at the Country Club of Troy on Wednesday.

Red Raiders too much for Panthers

MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. >> The Hoosick Falls girls soccer team had a tough time slowing down Mechanicville on Thursday afternoon, losing to the Red Raiders 5-1.

Junior Darian Morgan scored the only goal for the Panthers in the loss.

Senior goalkeeper Sydney Miller had eight saves in net for Hoosick Falls.

With the loss, the Panthers drops to 4-4 on the season.

Hoosick Falls will have another tough task ahead of them when they host Stillwater on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Minutemen split

BENNINGTON >> The Bennington Minutemen Senior Team cruised to a 20-6 win over Mechanicville on Sunday.

Braeden Billert led a great defensive effort and a dominating offensive line along with Randy Dennison, Landon Quackenbush, Ian White and Connor Barrett. Offensively the Minutemen scored 3 TD's on 4 possessions with Tanner Bushee having a big day running the ball for over 100 yards and 2 TD's and an extra point. Ayman Naser also scored a TD in his third consecutive game and punched in an extra point.

The Junior team fell big against Mechanicville this weekend 30 - 12. On the defensive of side of the ball, Vincent Mattison continues to play great at defensive end. Offensively Cash Campolungo and Drelend Carey scored on two long runs.

Bennington Minutemen Flag team 1: Joel Pacher had two touchdowns and Asher West and Kaleb Ordway also scored a touchdown.

Flag Team 2: Won 36 - 18. Talin Barthodi had three touchdowns. Two running and one passing. Aiden Lacasse also had three touchdowns. Two runs and one catch.
