HINESBURG — The Burr and Burton girls soccer team got an impressive road victory on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the defending division I champions CVU 2-1.
With the game tied 1-1 early on in the second half, Emma Perry knocked in the game's winning goal off a nice pass from Brooke Woodward to give the Bulldogs their fourth victory of the season.
Sky Woodward scored the other BBA goal in the first half that tied the game at 1-1.
Samantha Citron had eight saves in net for the Bulldogs in the win.
The (4-1) Bulldogs will next travel to face Brattleboro on Saturday at 12 p.m.
Eagles blank West Rutland
WEST RUTLAND >> After tieing Brattleboro in the consolation game of the John James tournament, the Arlington boys soccer team found a way to win their second game of the season, defeating West Rutland 2-0.
Jared Lacoste and Will Stewart each scored a goal for Arlington in the win.
With the win, the Eagles are on 2-3-1 on the season.
Arlington will next host Leland and Gray on Friday at 6 p.m.
Great first half leads Panthers to victory
HOOSICK, N.Y. >> The Hoosick Falls field hockey team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 3-0 win over North Warren on Wednesday afternoon.
The first half proved to be the difference in the game as the Panthers scored all three of their goals in the first period.
Eliza Whitman led the way for the Panthers with a game-high two goals on the afternoon.
Cecilia Vincent scored the Panthers other goal in the contest.
Ally Burdick and Sydney Luke both dished out an assist in the win for Hoosick Falls.
The Panthers will try to keep their perfect start to the season going when they travel to play Granville on Friday at 4:15 p.m.
Panthers blanked by Spa Catholic
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> It was back-to-back games with no goals scored for the Hoosick Falls boys soccer team, who loss to Spa Catholic on Wednesday afternoon 2-0.
Evan McCart had five saves in the loss for the Panthers.
With the loss, Hoosick Falls drops to 1-6-1 on the season.
The Panthers will try scratch out a win when they travel to play Stillwater on Friday at 7 p.m.
Scoreless action between Arlington and Black River
LUDLOW >> The Arlington girls soccer team and Black River played to a 0-0 tie in their matchup on Wednesday night
The Eagles held the Black River offense in check all game long, but couldn't get anything going offensively to pull out the win
Arlington is now 3-1-1 on the season.
The Eagles will host Long Trail on Monday at 7 p.m.
Bulldogs fall to Fair Haven
FAIR HAVEN >> The Burr and Burton field hockey lost 3-0 to Fair Haven on Wednesday afternoon.
Fair Haven scored two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead at the half and added another in the second period to go to a three goal victory.
Rachel Jones had 12 saves in net for the Bulldogs in the loss.
With the loss, BBA falls to 1-3-3 on the season.
The Bulldogs will look to bounce in their next game against Brattleboro on Friday.
