VESTAVIA HILLS, ALA. >> The Catamount wrestling club traveled to Alabama for an event over the weekend.
The trip was a successful one as all 16 competitors returned home with winning records.
A handful won all nine matches, including Tyson Sauer, Ashdin Schaefer, Tyler Burgess and Calvin Hayford. Gage McLaughlin, Keenan Taylor, Austin Prendergast, Sam Wilkins, Colin Crowley and Gaige Crandall all were 8-1, while Adam Frost was 7-1.
Noah Call was 7-2 and Christian Burdick was 6-3, as was Keegan Coon. Logan Sprague was 5-4.
The Catamount wrestlers will travel to the annual Thousand Island Duals in August.
Locals qualify for Vermont Amateur
MANCHESTER >> Eleven local golfers punched their ticket into the Vermont Amateur golf tournament, qualifying recently at the Country Club of Rutland.
Manchester Country Club's Cooper Bleakie won the qualifier with a 1-under 69, while Mount Anthony Country Club's Cory Jozefiak was tied for second with a 1-over 71.
Hans Albertsson shot a 2-over 72 and he'll compete at his home course for the Amateur at Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester on July 5-7.
Mount Anthony CC had two more qualifiers, Shane Becker (6-over 76) and Logan Ripley (9-over 79). Three Dorset Field Club members qualified in Mike Rollyson (7-over 77), Thomas Deck (9-over 79) and Keith Komline (9-over 79).
Three other members from Manchester CC also qualified, including Chris Antonez (8-over 78), Dan Favreau (10-over 80) and Hunter Caler (10-over 80).
Travel softball team seeks players

The New England Alliance team is looking for more players.

The 14-and-under New England Alliance is traveling to Keene and Hampton Beach, N.H., as well as Glens Falls and Amsterdam, N.Y.
To culminate the season, we travel to Eastern Nationals in York, Pa. Try outs will be on June 16 in Salem from 6-8 p.m.
Youth lax camp at Willow Park
BENNINGTON >> The Southern Vermont Youth Lacrosse camp for boys will be held in Willow Park from July 11 to July 14.
The camp for players ages 6-8 will attend from 9 to 11 a.m. while the 9-16 age group will attend from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This is a great camp to introduce the sport of lacrosse to new players and equipment is available for those who need it.
The cost is $75 for 6-8 year olds and $150 for 9-16 year olds.
Southern Vermont football camp
MANCHESTER >> The Sparxx Athletics football camp for youth players will run from July 11 to 14 at Taylor Field on the campus of Burr and Burton Academy.
The camp, which goes each day from 5 to 8 p.m., will showcase the top college and high school football players in the area in a hands-on experience to improve the grassroots of football.
The cost to attend the camp is $100, and $125 after June 1.

ARLINGTON >> Retired Arlington and Castleton soccer coach John Werner will again be running soccer camps locally. Werner and his experienced staff are committed to providing a quality camp experience, with the emphasis on learning and fun, at a reasonable cost.

The Battenkill Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of July 18 from 9 a.m. until noon at Greenwich Central School in Greenwich, N.Y. This camp emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics.
The co-director is Coach Tim Kelleher, Greenwich varsity boys coach.
The Arlington Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. until noon at Arlington High School.
This camp also emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics.
The Arlington Senior Soccer Camp for those entering grades 9 through 12 will be held the week of Aug. 1 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Arlington High School.
This camp includes position specific training.
