BENNINGTON >> Southern Vermont College released its fall athletic schedules on Wednesday.
The Mountaineers sponsor five teams in the fall season — men's soccer, women's soccer, men's cross-country, women's cross-country and women's volleyball.
The men's soccer team, led by new coach Greg Gilmore, will start the year at home on Sept. 1 against the College of St. Joseph. The Mountaineers continue its non-league schedule with home games against SUNY-Cobleskill and Lyndon State and away games against Springfield, Sage and Castleton University.
SVC's New England Collegiate Conference schedule starts on Sept. 24 at Daniel Webster and hosts Senior Day on October 29 against Lesley.
The women's soccer team, led by coach Michael Zauzig, are aiming to reach the postseason for the sixth straight season. They begin the year on the road when they travel to Mount Holyoke College on Sept. 1, then come back home against Dean College on Sept. 4.
Non-league games include Green Mountain College, Morrisville State, Sage College, Clark University and MCLA.
They host Lesley to start the conference slate and host Newbury for Senior Day on Oct. 1. They also host the finale against Bay Path on October 26.
The men and women's cross-country teams, coached by Kathleen Newton, will start its season at home on Sept. 3 for the Mountaineer Invitational, a 5K event. The men will continue its season with 8K races, starting at Castleton University (Sept. 10) and Johnson State Invitational (Sept. 17). The NECC championship will be at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass., on October 29, before going to the ECAC meet on November 5 and then the New England qualifier on November 12.
The women's volleyball team, led by second-year coach Scott Fitzgerald, start their season on the road at SUNY-Canton with a tri-match on Sept. 2. They stay on the road and go to Castleton, Potsdam and Plattsburgh for opening the home season on Sept. 28 against Castleton.
SVC begins the NECC slate with a match at Newbury on Oct. 1 and host Senior Day on Oct. 22 against Lesley.
