CICERO, N.Y. — Cambridge's Olivia Mooney defended her state championship in the high jump on Saturday, finishing third overall.
The senior Mooney leapt 5 feet, 6 inches and was the top small school, or Division II, competitor.
She tied in height with Amherst's (Buffalo-area) Morgan Halt, but Mooney only took one attempt to clear 5-6, while Halt took two. Another Section II athlete, Emma Willard's Sharde Johnson was 10th overall and third in Division II.
BLR returns for fifth year
BENNINGTON >> The fifth annual Blue Lollipop Road Play it Forward alumni soccer game will take place on July 9 at 2 p.m. at Willow Park in Bennington. The event is in memory of two Mount Anthony soccer players who died while still in school.
Registration for the event is $35 and includes a 2016 Play it Forward jersey. Two scholarship winners will also be presented and there will be a kids fun run at halftime of the game.
On Friday night, there will be a welcome back block party at Ramunto's and after the game, there is plans for celebration cocktails at Pangaea in North Bennington.

Lady Patriot basketball camp
BENNINGTON >> The Lady Patriot basketball camp will take place from June 27 to July 1 at Mount Anthony Union High School.
The camp is for children from kindergarten to sixth grade. Players in K-3 go from 8 to 10:30 a.m., while 4th-6th is from 10:45 to 1:45 p.m.
The cost for the camp is $85, which includes a T-shirt and a basketball. The focus of the camp will be on skill development and fundamentals.

Youth lax camp at Willow Park
BENNINGTON >> The Southern Vermont Youth Lacrosse camp for boys will be held in Willow Park from July 11 to July 14.
The camp for players ages 6-8 will attend from 9 to 11 a.m. while the 9-16 age group will attend from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
A great camp to introduce the sport of lacrosse to new players and equipment is available for those who need it.
The cost is $75 for 6-8 year olds and $150 for 9-16 year olds.
College lacrosse camp upcoming
BENNINGTON >> Former Mount Anthony and current University of Arizona assistant men's lacrosse coach Paul Reif will return to Vermont for a two-week clinic this summer, starting on June 21, 22 and 23 and then on June 27, 28 and 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Willow Park.
The camp will consist of six 2-hour college-style practices conducted by current and former college coaches and players. The focus will be on advanced individual and team skills, including terminology and concepts.
There will be individual evaluations and information on the recruiting process.
The camp will take place at Willow Park and is for high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The cost is $100 for field players and $50 for goalies.

Southern Vermont football camp
MANCHESTER >> The Sparxx Athletics football camp for youth players will run from July 11 to 14 at Taylor Field on the campus of Burr and Burton Academy.
The camp, which goes each day from 5 to 8 p.m., will showcase the top college and high school football players in the area in a hands-on experience to improve the grassroots of football.
The cost to attend the camp is $100, and $125 after June 1.

The Battenkill Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of July 18 from 9 a.m. until noon at Greenwich Central School in Greenwich, N.Y. This camp emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics. The co-director is Coach Tim Kelleher, Greenwich varsity boys coach.
The Arlington Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. until noon at Arlington High School. This camp also emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics.
The Arlington Senior Soccer Camp for those entering grades 9 through 12 will be held the week of Aug. 1 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Arlington High School. This camp includes position specific training.
