GRANVILLE, N.Y. >> Hoosick Falls' Wyatt Whitman pitched a two-hitter and struck out 12 during the No. 5 Panthers' first round Class B matchup with Granville on Thursday afternoon.
But the Horde was just as precise, allowing only one hit and two base runners in a 1-0 loss.
Granville scored its run in the fourth inning after back-to-back singles. With a runner on third, a sacrifice fly drove home the eventual winning score.
Riley Bacon had the one hit for Hoosick Falls, who finish the season at 10-8 overall.
Bulldogs fall to Poultney
POULTNEY >> The Burr and Burton softball team dropped a 7-1 decision against Poultney on Thursday.
Darien Halliday pitched four innings, while Jen Kiernan pitched the last two. BBA's run came from an RBI single by Emma Gras.
BBA plays on Saturday at home against West Rutland.
BBA girls lacrosse tops Bratt (Wednesday)
BRATTLEBORO >> The Burr and Burton girls lacrosse team got past Brattleboro, 11-7, on Wednesday night, to win its fifth game in a row.
BBA led 8-1 at the half and held on from there.
Shayla Heekin and Jessie Forstmann each had three goals, while Aggie Bisselle added a pair.
Cat Greenberg, Lydia Morgantini and Bella Dworkin all had single tallies. Bisselle also had two assists, while Dworkin and Forstmann added helpers.
Scorers for Brattleboro were Morgan Derosia and Liz Day both with 3 goals and Meg Sargent had 1 goal.
BBA is 7-5 and host Mount Greylock on Saturday.
BBA football camp
MANCHESTER >> The Sparxx Athletics football camp for youth players will run from July 11 to 14 at Taylor Field on the campus of Burr and Burton Academy.
The camp, which goes each day from 5 to 8 p.m., will showcase the top college and high school football payers in the area in a hands-on experience to improve the grassroots of football.
The cost to attend the camp is $100, and $125 after June 1.

The Battenkill Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of July 18 from 9 a.m. until noon at Greenwich Central School in Greenwich, N.Y. This camp emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics. The co-director is Coach Tim Kelleher, Greenwich varsity boys coach.
The Arlington Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of August 1 from 9 a.m. until noon at Arlington High School. This camp also emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics.
The Arlington Senior Soccer Camp for those entering grades 9 through 12 will be held the week of August 1 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Arlington High School. This camp includes position specific training.
