BENNINGTON — The undefeated season continues for the Mount Anthony girls tennis team as the Patriots improved to 9-0 to start off the season with their 7-0 shutout victory over Otter Valley on Wednesday.
MAU won all seven matches in straight sets against the Otters.
No. 1 singles player Margaret Curtin started the day off for MAU with wins of 6-0, 6-1 in her match.
MAU's No.2 singles player Grace Page followed Curtin up with a dominating performance of her own, winning her match in shutout fashion 6-0, 6-0.
No. 3 singles player Anna Salem won her match with two 6-1 set victories, while No. 4 singles player Ally White posted a second shutout win for the Panthers in her match.
No. 5 singles player Phebe Hall won her match 10-7.
In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles pair of Thea Pappas and Camryn Bentley won their match 6-3, 6-0 for MAU.
The Patriots No. 2 doubles pair of Kaitlin Banks and Trinity Galipeau finished off the day for MAU with a match win of 6-2, 6-0.
MAU will look to start off the season 10-0 when they travel to play Springfield on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Panthers no match for Stillwater
STILLWATER, N.Y. >> It was tough goings on the diamond Wednesday for the Hoosick Falls softball team.
The Panthers lost to their Wasaren League rival Stillwater by a final score of 14-3.
Junior Lizza Ryan scratched out a team-high two hits on the day for Hoosick Falls.
Senior Erika Quackenbush had a hit in the loss for the Panthers as well.
Hoosick Falls will try to get back on the winning track today when they travel to play Tamarac at 4:15 p.m.
BBA fall in walk-off fashion to Mill River
NORTH CLARENDON >> Leading by one going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Burr and Burton softball team looked poised to lockup their third game of the season, but that was not to be for the Bulldogs as Miller River scored to runs in the inning to win the game 12-11.
Senior Rachel Senecal hit a home run in the loss for the Bulldogs.
Junior Jennifer Kiernan pitched her first complete game of the season on the mound for BBA in the losing effort.
With the loss, BBA drops to 2-6 on the season.
The Bulldogs will get back on the diamond this Friday when they travel to play Mount Anthony at 4:15 p.m.
BBA drops second straight road contest
WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. >> The Burr and Burton boys lacrosse traveled to Massachusetts on Wednesday to play Mt. Greylock, where the Bulldogs dropped their second straight road contest this week with a 15-7 loss to the Mounties.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 5-4 on the season.
BBA will look to get back to their winning ways when they host Rutland today at 4 p.m.
