BRATTLEBORO >> On a wet and rainy Wednesday afternoon, the Mount Anthony softball team was able to push through the elements to defeat Brattleboro, 9-3.
Having big day on the mound and at the plate for the Patriots was sophomore Taylor DiCranian, who gave up three runs on two hits with five strikeouts in her complete game performance pitching and had three hits at the plate, one being a three-run home run in the top of the seventh that extended the MAU lead to six.
Catherine Worthington went 2-4 at the dish for MAU with 2 RBIs.
Kaidin Gauthier had two hits in the win for the Patriots as well.
With the win, MAU improves to 5-1 on the season.
The Patriots will next travel to play Drury on Friday at 4 p.m.
Patriots rally but come up short against Woodstock
WOODSTOCK >> They came back to tie it up, but the Mount Anthony boys lacrosse team could not pull out the win against Woodstock on Wednesday.
Down 9-6 in the fourth quarter, the Patriots rallied to score three unanswered to tie the game, but allowed the Wasps to come right back down the field and score to take back the lead.
The Patriots had a chance to tie it again with a minute to go, but failed to convert on their scoring opportunity and went on to lose 10-9 to Woodstock.
Senior Hunter Davis scored a team-high five goals in the loss.
Thomas Hendery scored two goals from MAU, while Trey Lang and Emilio Stevens each tallied a score in the loss as well.
Junior goaltender Jackson Thibodeau racked up nine saves in net for MAU, making him now the schools all-time leader in saves.
With the loss, MAU drops to 3-5 on the season.
The Patriots will travel to play Rutland on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
