BENNINGTON — At a tri-meet at Zemianek Track, the Mount Anthony track team finished second and third, respectively on Wednesday.

The girls were tied for second, while the boys were third. Mount Greylock won the girls title, while Taconic took the boys' crown.

On the boys side, Skyler Hoyt qualified for the state championships in June in the javelin, winning the event with a heave of 126 feet, 3 inches — more than 10 feet longer than anyone else in the competition.

Hoyt won two more events as well, including the long jump, where he leapt 19 feet, 1/2 inch, besting his competition by nearly a foot and a half. He also won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 8 inches.

He tied two others with that mark, including his teammate, Austin Martinka, but did it in the least amount of tries.

Alan Bernard and Tanner Jelley went 2-3 in the 100 meters, Bernard 0.03 seconds better than his teammate at the line. Bernard was also fourth in the triple jump. Jelley was also second in the 200, in 24.3 seconds.

Owen Page had a pair of runner-up finishes, in the 800 (2:15.82) and the 3000 (10:23.1).

On the girls side, Abbie Crosier won the 400 meters in a time of 1 minute, 2.27 seconds, finished second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump.

Faith Sullivan scored runner-up finishes in the discus and shotput, while Sophia Prandini was third in the shot.


Taylor Bushika was third in the high jump, while Paige Greenawalt and Erica Hale went 2-3 in the 1,500 meters.

Asuka Kosaki was third in the 800 and fourth in the 200 meters.

The MAU track team continues its season at the Fenn Relays in Brattleboro on Friday.
