BENNINGTON >> The Southern Vermont College men's basketball team won their 13th consecutive game on Thursday night, with a 93-84 win over New England Collegiate Conference rivals Elms.
Leading the way for the Mountaineers was Rayshawn Taylor, who scored a team-high 20 points off the bench to help SVC win it's 21st game of the season.
SVC had three other players in double figures on the night, beginning with senior Casey Hall, who scored 17 points with a team-high 13 rebounds on the night for the Mountaineers.
Jeff James and Nate Goldsmith each followed with double figure totals of 14 and 10 respectively, to help SVC get the win as well.
With the win SVC improves to 21-3 on the season and have now won 33 consecutive NECC conference games dating back to last season.
The Mountaineers will finish their regular season play on Saturday when they host Daniel Webster at 3 p.m.
BBA girls basketball team win regular season finale
MANCHESTER >> The Burr and Burton Academy girls basketball team put an end to their seven-game losing streak, with a come from behind victory over Rutland on Thursday night.
Down one going into the fourth quarter, BBA was able to comeback to grab the lead and hold on for a 40-37 victory over the Raiders.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was senior Jessica Finnegan, who had a game-high 12 points on the night in the BBA win.
Sophomore Emily Bleakie was also in double figures on the night for BBA, scoring 11 points to help the Bulldogs with their sixth game of the season.
With the win BBA finishes the regular season at 6-14.
The Bulldogs will await their playoff destiny when the Division I pairings are announced next week.
VPA sets prices for tourney game
BENNINGTON >> The Vermont Principals Association has set its ticket prices for all playdown and quarterfinal rounds in this years state championship games in both basketball and hockey games.
Admission for adults will be $6 and students and senior citizens will be $5. Season passes and faculty/staff passes can not be used at VPA Tournament games as well.
Bennington Little League sign-ups
BENNINGTON >> The Bennington Little League will hold registration for this coming season today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennington Firehouse on River Street.
Children ages 5-9 by August 30th, or 10-12 by April 30th, who wish to play this season must register.
This registration is for the entire Bennington School District area.
Even returning players need to register. Birth certificates (Xerox copies, no originals necessary) are required at time of registration.
