MANCHESTER >> The paths for a shot at a state championship for both the Burr and Burton Academy girls and boys hockey teams have been set.

On Thursday the brackets for the Division II girls and boys playoff tournaments were announced.

Receiving the seventh seed in its playoff pairings was the BBA girls squad.

After starting out the season 1-8, the Bulldogs rebounded in the second half of the season and were able to finish with a 7-10-3 record.

BBA is led by one the best players in Division II, senior forward Aggie Bisselle, who scored 39 goals and had total of 51 points in the regular season.

The Bulldogs also have a solid defense that is headed up by junior goaltender Molly Dingley and junior forward Natalia Sowulewska.

"I am very proud of the way our girls have played this second half of the season," said BBA coach Ed Lewicki. "To put ourselves in position of getting a home playoff game after the rough start we had to the season, shows how hard the girls have worked to get better and that they have a never say die attitutde."

The Bulldogs are one of the hottest teams coming into the playoffs, going 6-1-1 in their last eight games.

Because of their great stretch to end the season, BBA was climbing up the standings to claim the No.7 seed and with that also clinched a home playoff game in their opening round contest of the tournament.

"We're playing our best hockey right now and that's huge for us," Lewicki said. "We have beaten the top four teams in our division during the second half of the season and we're going to be a tough opponent to play against in the playoffs."

The Bulldogs will host No.10 seed Brattleboro in the first round of the Division II playoff tournament on Saturday at 5 p.m.

On the boys side of the Division II bracket, the Bulldogs received the number eight seed after finishing the regular season at 11-9.

It has been an up and down season for the BBA boys hockey team.

After starting the season off 7-3, the Bulldogs hit a slow spot, going 4-5 down the stretch of the regular season.

BBA though was able to win two of their last three regular season games to secure the No.8 seed in the Division II bracket and will now host their opening round matchup of the playoffs.

The Bulldogs will host No.9 seed Harwood in their first round matchup of the Division II playoff tournament on Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
