BENNINGTON >> The Southern Vermont College women's basketball team lost a tough one on Wednesday night to Daniel Webster, 71-58.

The Mountaineers all night had troubles stopping the Eagles Jillian Gilman, who recorded her first career triple-double with 27 points, 22 rebounds and 14 blocks to hand SVC their 11th loss of the season.

Senior Amber Flagg had a Mountaineer team-high 18 points in the loss, while fellow senior Shaniquewa Barnes had a team-high 12 rebounds and scored 14 points to her seventh double-double of the season.

Sophomore Chloe Longe was also in double figures on the night for SVC, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to give her a double-double in a losing effort.

With the loss SVC drops to 11-11 on the season and extends their losing streak to three straight game.

The Mountaineers will try snap their three-game losing streak on Saturday when they travel to play Wheelock at 12 p.m.

MAU wrestling sweeps at Otter Valley Duals

BRANDON >> The Mount Anthony Union High School wrestling team went a perfect 3-0 at the Otter Valley Duals on Wednesday.

The Patriots defeated Middlebury 57-18, beat Mill River 76-4 and shutout Otter Valley 79-0.

Tyson Sauer, Ashdin Schaefer, Keenan Taylor, Gage McLaughlin, Tyler Raetz, Tyler Burgess, Austin Prendergast, AJ Wright, Dakota King and Calvin Hayford all went 3-0 in their matches at the Duals.

MAU is now 30-1 on the season and will next compete at their own MAU Jamboree on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.

Hoosick Falls bowling team win sectional title

SCHENECTADY >> On Monday, the Hoosick Falls Central School bowling team won the Section II, Class C Bowling Tournament.

In a field of 23 teams, the Panthers bowled a six game total of 5,297 pins to win their first sectional title since 2011.

The top bowler on lanes for Hoosick Falls on Monday was A.J. Hurlburt.

The sophomore bowled a six game total of 1,129 pins with game-high score of 208 pins.

Jon Bossoni followed up his teammate A.J's great performance with a good one of his own, scoring a pin total of 1,075 in his six games on lane, which included an impressive game-high score of 247 pins.

The Panthers had two others bowlers bowl over a 1,000 pins in the six games.

Senior Jennifer Sargood bowled a total of 1,074 pins on the day ,while fellow senior Josh McCart scored a total of 1,024 pins to help the Panthers once again become Sectional champions.

"This was a great way to end the season with a win at Sectionals along with our victories in the League Tournament and winning the League Championship," said Hoosick Falls bowling coach Bob Lang. "The team worked very hard all year to achieve these goals and I'm proud of the way that this team came together during the season."

Hoosick Falls will now wait on the results from the rest of the NYSPHSAA sectional championships to determine if they will move on compete in state championships.

VPA sets prices for tourney game

BENNINGTON >> The Vermont Principals Association has set it's ticket prices for all playdown and quarterfinal rounds in this years state championship games in both basketball and hockey games.

Admission for adults will be $6.00 and students and senior citizens will be $5.00. Season passes and faculty/staff passes can not be used at VPA Tournament games as well.
