HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. >> It was senior day at the Barbecue Recreation Lanes for the Hoosick Falls Central School bowling team, who cruised to a 10-0 record in the Wasaren League with a 4-0 sweep over Hoosic Valley on Thursday night.

The senior bowlers for the Panthers stepped up big for Hoosick Falls, with all three of them bowling over 600 total pins in the match.

Senior Kyla Day got things going for the Panthers in the first game of the match. In her last match as a member of the HFCS bowling team, Day bowled a game-high 233 pins to give the Panthers an early 1-0 advantage over Hoosic Valley.

"It was very emotional day with this being my last time on my home lanes, so it was great that we got the win," Day said. "I just kept on the roll I have been on lately and didn't let any hiccups affect me."

Fellow senior Josh McCart picked up where Day left off in the last two games of the match, getting on a nice roll with a game-high tallies of 234 and 222 respectively to keep Hoosick Falls in the front.

"I was able to make a couple tough shots there at the end of each game and I was just in a good groove bowling throughout two games," McCart said. "It felt good to bowl better then what I have been lately, so that was great to see going forward with league championships just around the corner."

McCart and Day finished as the top two bowlers for Hoosick Falls, with McCart finishing with the top score of 637 pins and Day finishing right behind him with a match total of 621 pins.


Last but certainly not least, senior Jen Saragood also had great day on the lanes in her last home meet as a Panther.

Saragood bowled a match total of 602 pins, which included a stellar performance in the third game, where she bowled an impressive 221 pins.

"It felt so amazing that I was able finish off my senior day with a great performance," Saragood said. "I just kept feeding off the support from my teammates, coaches and family members that were supporting me. I will never forget it."

Sophomore A.J Hurlburt also had a great day on the lanes for the Panthers, bowling a total of 610 pins in the match to help Hoosick Falls win its 11th match of the season as well.

Overall, the Panthers beat Hooisck Valley by final score of 3,465-2,814.

"It's always great to win on senior day," said Hoosick Falls coach Bob Lang. "I'm happy that all the seniors had great days on their on the lanes and that we have won to matches after our only loss of the season to Schuylerville last week."

With the win, Hoosick Falls is now 11-1 on the season.

The Panthers will look to end the regular season strong next week, with the first of their last two remaining games being on the road against Stillwater on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.

"I have so many great memories bowling for Hoosick Falls," McCart said. "Being able to be a part of sectional championship team was honor and I hope to do it again this year."
