MANCHESTER >> The Burr and Burton Academy boy basketball team won their third straight game, by defeating St.Johnsbury in overtime on Friday night, 56-49.

Leading the way for BBA were their captains Griff Stalcup and Carter Vickers. Vickers had a team-high 23 points in the game and had three steals as well.

Stalcup would have a team-high 14 rebounds and six assists, while also dropping in nine points to help the Bulldogs win their fourth game of the season

Dylan Little also a nice game for BBA, scoring nine points in the win.

BBA's next game will be on the road against Middlebury, next Thursday night at 7 p.m.

SVC cross country and track and field team lend a helping hand

BENNINGTON >> Southern Vermont College cross country and track & field squads teamed up with local businesses over the past week to help support the Pownal Elementary School's Spirit of Sharing program.

The SVC student-athletes went door-to-door in their search for can and bottle donations while also getting substantial assistance from Madison Brewing Company Pub & Restaurant and Kevin's Sports Pub & Restaurant. The empty beverage containers were then turned into over $150 by Foster's Cannery in Bennington.


For over 20 years, Pownal El third grade teacher Kathy Brooks has been helping organize the Spirit of Sharing to support Pownal families. While presents need to be turned in by Monday and Tuesday of next week to be distributed on Wednesday and Thursday, there is still time to participate in the program. Anyone interested is asked to contact Kathy at 802-823-7333 or by Friday, December 11 to obtain a wish list.

Hoosick Falls girls outlast Hoosic Valley

SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y.>> The Hoosick Falls Central High School girls basketball team was able to squeak out a win in overtime against Hoosic Vally on Friday night, 35-33.

Kelly Flynn had a team-high 11 points of the Panthers and Megan Flynn dropped in seven points in the win as well.

With the win, Hoosick Falls improves to 3-1 on the season. They will host Cambridge in their next game on Thursday.

Cambridge extend winning streak to four games with win over Stillwater

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y.>> The Cambridge Central High School girls basketball team made it four straight victories on Friday night, with their 41-28 win over Stillwater.

Bridey Nolan team-high ten points for Cambridge on the night. It was the fifth time this year that Cambridge had a different player as their leading scorer.

Lily Snyder had nine points in the win as well.

The Indian defense Stillwater to only two field goals in the have, and Stillwater didn't score their first points until the second quarter.

With the win, Cambridge improves to 4-1 on the season. Their next game will be on the road against Hoosick Falls next Thursday night.
