MANCHESTER — Aggie Bisselle started off her senior season with a bang on Wednesday night.
Bisselle scored four goals and had two assists, to lead Burr and Burton Academy Girls Hockey team to a 8-4 vicotry over Brattleboro, in their season opener.
"It was really nice to start the season off with a bang," Bisselle said. "I got a lot of chances early on in the game that I was able to take advantage, didn't think it would result in 4 goals but I will take that any night."
Bisselle scored all four of her goals in the first period, and had a hat-trick within the first five minutes of the game.
Because of Bisselle's performance in the first period, BBA was able to gain the edge early on and control the game from start to finish.
"It was nice to get a win to start off the season, " said BBA head coach Ed Lewicki. "We have a very young team this year, so we didn't really know what to expect in the first game. We did make mistakes like any young team, but importantly we got the win."
A couple of the Bulldogs young players, made a big impact in the teams win against Brattleboro.
Freshman Chloe MacDonald and Charleigh Carthy, each had at least one goal in their first ever high school hockey game.
"It was really exciting to score a goal and get the win in the first game of the season," said MacDonald, who had two goals in the game. "I was really nervous before the game, since it was my first high school game and all, so I'm happy I can remember it being a win."
MacDonald and Carthy, are two of seven freshman who are on the BBA team this season.
All seven freshman have been playing together for a long time though, and because of that Carthy believes it will help the team going forward in the season.
"We very tight nit group of freshman and that's helped us along with help of the upperclassman on the team, get acclimated to the high school game quicker," Carthy said.
Junior Natalia Sowulewska, also had a goal for BBA in the game and goalie Molly Dingley had 20 saves in the contest as well.
Brattleboro sophomore Axis Balsley had a hat trick of her own in the game, scoring two of her goals in the third period.
The Bulldogs next game will be at home against conference rival Middlebury, on Saturday. Face-off is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
