LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP

FARGO, N.D. -- In his final swan song before heading to Ohio University, Mount Anthony Union High School graduate Jesse Webb finished runner-up at the Fargo freestyle nationals on Saturday.

He faced Adarios Jones from Illinois in the final, losing 3-0. During the final, Webb gave up two points on pushouts and one on a stalling call.

To get to that point, Webb beat another Illinois product, Robert Carson II, 5-0, in the quarterfinal, to ensure another All-American placement after finishing fifth in 2013 in freestyle.

In the semifinal, Webb outlasted Michael Hobbs, 3-2, to move on to the final.

Webb, representing Massachusetts, finished sixth in the Greco Roman tournament, getting beaten by Hobbs in the fifth-sixth match. He was the only Massachusetts wrestler to score team points in the tournament.
