HOOSICK, N.Y. -- The Hoosick Hoosiers took advantage of 15 walks to beat New Lebanon, 13-0, on Wednesday night.

Mackenzie Ellis was the top hitter for the Hoosiers with a double and two RBI. Lauren Woodcock had two RBI and Kori Bow scored three runs.

Alyssa Ellis started, allowing one hit and one walk along with eight strikeouts.

The Hoosiers are 7-4 overall and head to Rotterdam today in a battle for first place in the Hudson-Mohawk League.

KEENE, N.H. -- The Southern Vermont Bat Brats finished second at the Paul Wilcox Tournament in Keene, N.H., last weekend weekend, falling short in the finals, 7-6, to the New Hampshire Comets Red. The Bat Brats went 5-1 for the weekend, and improve to 19-2 for the season.

The Bat Brats had solid hitting all weekend, scoring 57 runs over the six games. Leading the team was Jamie Boyle, going 8-16. Marliegh Greene went 8-17, while Nicole Main hit four singles, a double, a triple and a home run.

Taylor Dicranian went the distance on the mound, pitching all 36 innings of action. She struck out 24 over the weekend, pitching 23 shutout innings.

Kaidin Gauthier also stepped up for the Bat Brats. Despite nursing a shoulder injury, Gauthier was the courtesy runner for Boyle all weekend.

Storm football camp

BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Storm will host its youth football camp from July 21-24 at the Vermont Veterans Home.

Former Mount Anthony Union High School coach and Storm all-star Jim Fischer will lead the camp, along with current Storm and MAU football players.

The clinic, for players 8-14, will teach the fundamentals and techniques of the game, and provide instruction on running, throwing, catching, blocking, tackling and speed drills.

Shoulder pads and helmets will be supplied, so campers should bring cleats, a mouth guard and shorts or football pants.

The clinic costs $80 and the deadline for registration is July 19. For more info, call 802-681-9058.

Football tickets on sale

HOOSICK, N.Y. -- Tickets are now on sale for the Hoosick Falls Central School football team's game at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse on Sept. 7.

The Panthers will play the Owego Indians in the season opener for both sides.

The game is part of 10 games played at the Carrier Dome during the weekend, with the Panthers playing at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The school has 300 general admission tickets on sale in the high school office. Tickets cost $7 each.

Play it Forward weekend

SHAFTSBURY -- The third annual Blue Lollipop Road Play it Forward weekend is back on July 18 and 19 in Bennington.

Put together by Mount Anthony Union High School alum Diane Peacock, the event starts on Friday with a Welcome Back party at Ramunto's in Bennington, then continues on Saturday at Howard Park in Shaftsbury for an alumni soccer game.

The game will start at 2 p.m. and soccer alumni from all classes can sign up to play. Registration is $25 until June 30 and $30 after that.

The Blue Lollipop Road Memorial Travel Scholarship will be awarded in honor of former MAU soccer players Maria Greene and Brandy Brown.

SVC basketball camp

BENNINGTON -- Registration is open for the Southern Vermont College basketball camp. Interested boys and girls entering grades 3 to 11 can sign up by going to the SVC website and downloading a camp brochure.

The camp will run twice more this summer: from July 21 to 25 and from August 4 to 8. Each day's session goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Friday sessions ending at noon.
