BENNINGTON -- Mount Anthony Union High School wrestling coach Scott Legacy announced his staff for the 2014 Mount Anthony Wrestling Camp, while begins on July 6 with registration from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. The first session will start at 3:45 p.m.
The camp runs until July 9. Camps over the final three days will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the MAU middle school.
On the staff this year will be Joe Dubuque, a two-time NCAA Division I champion at Indiana University and now an assistant coach at Princeton, Ed Ruth, a three-time NCAA champion at Penn State and a recent selection to the USA World team, and Heath Eslinger, the head coach at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga.

Bat Brats fall
ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- The Southern Vermont Bat Brats suffered their first loss of the season in a tournament in Rotterdam, N.Y. over the weekend.
The Bat Brats fell short to Shenendehowa Cyclones in the semifinals, 3-1, to finish third in the tournament. The girls went 4-1 over the weekend, and are now 10-1 on the year.
Taylor Dicranian pitched in all five contests while Jamie Boyle caught her. The duo produced 25 innings of shutout ball out of the 32 they went. Dicranian struck out 11 over the weekend.
Defensively, Kaity O’Brien was an anchor at first base, recording 39 put outs with 23 assist coming from shortstop Hannah Bascue and 12 from Nicole Main at third.
At the plate, the Bat Brats recorded 34 runs over the five games. Dicranian lead the offense going 9-16 along with O’Brien going 8-18. Kennedy O’Dell was the big bat for the weekend with three doubles and two triples.
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Storm will host its youth football camp from July 21-24 at the vocational field at Mount Anthony Union High School.
Former Mount Anthony Union High School coach and Storm all-star Jim Fischer will lead the camp, along with current Storm and MAU football players.
The clinic, for players 8-14, will teach the fundamentals and techniques of the game, and provide instruction on running, throwing, catching, blocking, tackling and speed drills.
Shoulder pads and helmets will be supplied, so campers should bring cleats, a mouth guard and shorts or football pants.
The clinic costs $80 and the deadline for registration is July 19. For more information, call 802-681-9058.
BENNINGTON -- There will be three separate youth baseball clinics starting in Bennington on July 16.
Hosted by former Mount Anthony Union High School and Post 13 coach Mark Upright, the three clinics will focus on pitching, fielding, and hitting respectively.
On July 16, pitching will be the focus. There will be a camp for kids ages 9 and 10 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., then a camp for children ages 11 and 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On July 17, the camp will focus on fielding. All four ages will practice from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On July 23 the hitting camp will take place, with all four ages meeting from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The sessions will be held at the Bennington Little League Fields, and will be $10 per session or $25 for all three. Current and former MAU and American Legion players will be at the camp to help.

Football tickets on sale
HOOSICK, N.Y. -- Tickets are now on sale for the Hoosick Falls Central School football team’s game at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse on Sept. 7.
The Panthers will play the Owego Indians in the season opener for both sides.
The game is part of 10 games played at the Carrier Dome during the weekend, with the Panthers playing at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The school has 300 general admission tickets on sale in the high school office. Tickets cost $7 each.

Play it Forward weekend
SHAFTSBURY -- The third annual Blue Lollipop Road Play it Forward weekend is back on July 18 and 19 in Bennington.
Put together by Mount Anthony Union High School alum Diane Peacock, the event starts on Friday with a Welcome Back party at Ramunto’s in Bennington, then continues on Saturday at Howard Park in Shaftsbury for an alumni soccer game.
The game will start at 2 p.m. and soccer alumni from all classes can sign up to play. Registration is $25 until June 30 and $30 after that.
The Blue Lollipop Road Memorial Travel Scholarship will be awarded in honor of former MAU soccer players Maria Greene and Brandy Brown.

Lax camp registration
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Youth Lacrosse Camp for boys will be held from July 14 to July 17 at Willow Park in Bennington.
Boys from kindergarten through second grade will go from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. with a registration fee of $75, while grade three through 10 will go from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for a registration fee of $150.

Benn Basketball School looking for campers
BENNINGTON -- Mount Anthony Union High School boys basketball coach Dan Sleeman is still accepting basketball players for his Bennington Basketball School for Boys camp. The program will run from July 7 through July 11.
Age group 12-15 will practice from 8 a.m. to noon, while the 7-11 age group will run from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
This is the 43rd year of the Bennington Basketball School.

SVC basketball camp
BENNINGTON -- Registration is open for the Southern Vermont College basketball camp. Interested boys and girls entering grades 3 to 11 can sign up by going to the SVC website and downloading a camp brochure.
The camp will run three separate weeks: July 14 to 18, July 21 to 25 and August 4 to 8. Each day’s session goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Friday from the last three weeks ending at noon.
