LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP

BENNINGTON -- The Vermont nordic ski All-State team was named recently, and a handful of local athletes dot the list.

For the Division I boys, Mount Anthony’s Luke Keenan, Will Buckley and Andy Barlow made the list. MAU and Champlain Valley Union tied with three skiers each on the first team.

MAU’s Nick Altland was named as an honorable mention.

In Division II, BBA’s Scott Mooney earned an all-state nod, leading his team to a top-6 finish.

On the girls side, Mount Anthony’s Molly O’Callaghan and Abby Malmborg were named to the honorable mention list in Division I, while BBA’s Helena Bigelow earned an honorable mention in Division II.

Masters swim meet

BENNINGTON -- The 3rd annual Monumental Masters Mini Meet will be held on Saturday, April 26 at the Bennington Recreation Center on Gage Street.

Adults over the age of 18 are encouraged to swim, no prior competition is required.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bennington Marauders swim team.

Warm-ups start at 9 a.m., with the first event beginning at 10 a.m.

Pre-registration is $15 per swimmer by April 22, or $20 the day of the event. Forms are available at the Rec Center, or email mike@usms.org for more information.

Storm tryouts

BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Storm football team will be hosting open tryouts at the Veterans Home practice field, located at 325 North Street in Bennington.

Bennington Road Race

BENNINGTON -- The 26th annual Steve Zemianek Bennington Road Race will be held on Sunday, May 4 beginning at the Park McCullough house in North Bennington.

This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of local educator and marathon runner Gail Harwood. The race is produced and directed by the Batten Kill Valley Runners.

All net proceeds will be donated to the Mount Anthony Union High School Zemianek scholarship fund.

The kids race will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the 3.8K and 10K races will start at 10 a.m.

Registration is $15 in advance and $20 after May 1.

Runners can register online at runreg.com. Paper registration is available at Wills Insurance, Bennington Recreation Center, Off the Wall, Anytime Fitness, Bennington Sports Center and all schools in Bennington and North Bennington.

Bennington Basketball School

BENNINGTON -- Applications are now being accepted for the Bennington Basketball School for Boys. The camp runs from July 7 to July 11. Players aged 12-15 will practice from 8 a.m. to noon, and 7-11 will practice from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
