BENNINGTON -- The New England Collegiate Conference baseball season is just getting started, but a Southern Vermont College player has already picked up a conference award.

On Monday, Mountaineer junior Cody LaBadia was named the Baseball Player of the Week in the first weekly selections by the conference.

LaBadia helped SVC to a 2-1 record in the opening week of action. LaBadia has picked up two hits in all three games, going 6-10 over the stretch. LaBadia has hit three doubles for a .900 slugging percentage.

He has also knocked in five runs while scoring four himself and he is perfect in the field through 32 chances.

LaBadia and the Mountaineers will look to keep the season going this weekend as the team travels to Ft. Myers, Fla. for its annual spring training trip. The Mountaineers start the weekend with a three-game series against Mitchell College in the Gene Cusic Classic.
