BRATTLEBORO -- The Burr and Burton Academy girls basketball team fell out of the Vermont Division I playoffs with a close 50-47 loss to Brattleboro on Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs led a majority of the way, taknig a 27-18 lead into the break and a 39-34 advantage heading into the fourth, but with four minutes left in the contest Brattleboro knotted things up at 42-42 and the Colonels would outscore BBA 8-5 down the stretch to get the win.
Tessa Roberts had 13 for BBA in the loss, while Maggie Oliver added 12. Ari Harrison had 21 points for Brattleboro while Maddy Derosia added 10.
Bulldogs fall to Tigers
MIDDLEBURY -- In a game that would determine first place in the Lake Division, the Burr and Burton Academy girls hockey team fell to Middlebury 5-2 on Wednesday night.
Aggie Bisselle struck twice for the Bulldogs with Jordan Harmon assisting on both efforts, but two goals each from Timi Carone and Sara Boe were enough for Middlebury to get the critical win.
Kaylie Benson stopped 22 shots for BBA in the loss, while her counterpart Bailey Ryan stopped 11 shots in the win.
BBA falls to 15-3-2 while Middlebury moves to 16-3-1.
Hoosac boys have game moved
HOOSICK, N.Y. -- The Hoosac School announced that Saturday’s season finale has been moved.
Originally scheduled for 2 p.m. at Hoosick Falls Central School, the game will now be played at the Hoosac School at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
VPA sets ticket prices for tournament games
BENNINGTON -- The Vermont Principals Association sets the ticket prices for basketball tournament games. The admission price for the first two rounds is $5 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.
When the semifinal and finals are at UVM or Barre Auditorium, the prices increase to $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
Pownal youth baseball
POWNAL -- The Pownal Cal Ripken Baseball is looking for players for the upcoming season. The team is open to all Pownal and surrounding area children ages 4-12. Children ages 9-12 can play in Cal Ripken sanctioned tournaments.
There is no registration fee for any child. Sign-ups will be Feb. 24 and 26 from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pownal Elementary School gym.

BENNINGTON -- Mt. Anthony Lacrosse Association will hold 2014 spring registration on February 25 and 26 at the Bennington Rec Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for boys and girls grades K thru 8.

Benn LL sign-ups
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Little League is opening registration for the 2014 season. Registration for the season is Feb. 19 and 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fire House on River Street.
All players 5-12 in the Bennington school district looking to play baseball this year need to register on one of these four dates.

Mack Attack sign-ups
ARLINGTON -- The Mack Attack AAU girls’ basketball season will begin practicing on March 9, and sign-ups are ongoing.
