SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Hoosick Falls Central School bowling team placed third in the Section II Class C bowling tournament on Tuesday at Boulevard Lanes in Schnectady.
The team bowled a six-game total of 5,358 pints. Mechanicville finished first with 5,468 and Middleburgh was second with 5,456.
Ken Marbot led the way with 1,139 pins in six games. Josh McCary had 1,129, Stephen Surdam had 1,058 and Jennifer Sargood had 993. In five game totals, Kyla Day had 912 and A.J. Hurlburt bowled a one-game scored of 127. Jonathan Bossoni and Eric Bloomer were on the team in the event, but did not have to bowl.
The team finishes the year with a 54-2 point record and a 13-0-1 match record and were Adirondack Legue Tournament and league champions.
Eagles win close one
ARLINGTON -- It was close throughout, but the Arlington Memorial High School girls basketball team was able to squeak out a 49-48 win over Green Mountain on Tuesday night.
Molly Elwell led the Eagles with 19 points in the win, but the Eagles also saw Julia Lacoste (16 points) and Brooke Hawley (10 points) crack double digits to help out in the winning effort.
Green Mountain was paced by Madi Huntley with a game-high 21 points and Kristina Knockenhauer with 13 points.
Arlington moves to 10-8 and returns to action today against Proctor.
Cambridge girls win big
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- Behind a 19-point effort from Sarah Cuddihy, the Cambridge Central School girls basketball team routed Berlin 48-27 on Tuesday.
Lilly Snyder added 10 and Olivia Mooney had 8 for the Indians.
Cambridge ends the regular season with a 7-11 record.
Indians fall at home
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- The Cambridge Central School boys basketball team ended the season with a 74-37 loss to Berlin on Tuesday night.
Greg Depaolis scored 28 for Berlin in the win while Cody Seel added 26.
Cambridge was led by Ryan Jeskie with 13 points and Brendan Ricketts with nine.
Cambridge ends the regular season with a 1-17 record.
BENNINGTON -- Twenty-eight Bennington Marauders swimmers competed at the Piranhas Pentathlon on Sunday.
Swimmers placing in the top 8 included Elyse Altland (8-and-under) who was second in the 50 free, third in the 50 breaststroke, sixth in the 50 butterfly and seventh in the 50 backstroke.
Bela Donckers was third in the 50 back and fifth in both the 50 free and 50 fly.

BENNINGTON -- Sign-ups for the 2014 Bennington Young Women’s softball league will take place on Thursday, Feb. 13 and Feb. 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bennington firehouse on River Street.

Pownal youth baseball
POWNAL -- The Pownal Cal Ripken Baseball is looking for players for the upcoming season. The team is open to all Pownal and surrounding area children ages 4-12. Children ages 9-12 can play in Cal Ripken sanctioned tournaments.
There is no registration fee for any child. Sign-ups will be Feb. 12, 24 and 26 from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pownal Elementary School gym.

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Little League is opening registration for the 2014 season. Registration for the season will begin on Feb. 12 and 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Feb. 19 and 20 at the Fire House on River Street.
All players 5-12 in the Bennington school district looking to play baseball this year need to register on one of these four dates.

Mack Attack sign-ups
ARLINGTON -- The Mack Attack AAU girls’ basketball season will begin practicing on March 9, and sign-ups are ongoing.
