BENNINGTON -- Think stock car racing is just for adults with a license?

Think again.

North Bennington native Timothy Davis II, a 15-year-old, just put the wraps on an excellent rookie season. Davis won three events throughout the year, including on the final Friday night of the 2013 campaign.

Davis is a 602 Crate Sportsman competitor, and has been a regular at both the Lebanon Valley Speedway and the Albany-Saratoga Speedway.

Davis made the move up to the full-size car this year after winning track championships at the Balston Spa Kart Track and the Lebanon Valley Kart Speedway in the Junior Two Pro class in 2012.

Davis’ car is maintained in the family, with father Tim Davis and uncle Rick Davis, Sr. both working on his pit crew.

Davis’ season numbers were impressive. Along with the three wins, Davis also had nine top-five finishes, and was in the top 10 14 times throughout the season.

Davis’ work on the track is being recognized at the state level, as Davis will be presented with an award by the New York State Stock Car RAcing Assocation on January 25 for Outstanding Performance in the Sportsman Division at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.

Davis’ 7T Racing team is sponsored by J.A. Mahar Monuments, Latif Plumbing and Heating, Matt Morse Excavating and TNT Transportation.
