WATERBURY -- The Burr and Burton Academy boys hockey team stretched its unbeaten run to 12 games Saturday with a 6-3 win against Harwood.
Henry Buckley led the way for the Bulldogs (12-3-1) with two goals and two assist, while goalkeeper Zack Stewart finished with 24 saves.
Sean Paradis added a goal and two helpers. Jack Ams, Bennett Timmerman and Nolan Johnson also scored for BBA, which hosts Burlington next Saturday night.
Willy McGowan stopped 46 shots for Harwood (6-9-1).
T-birds shoot down BBA
MANCHESTER -- Missisquoi elevated its game in the third period to pull away from Burr and Burton Academy for a 3-1 win in Metro Division girls hockey on Saturday night at Riley Rink.
After a scoreless first period, the Thunderbirds (7-7-1) tacked on a goal in the second period and two more in the third before BBA (6-8-1) got on the board in the final minute.
Katie Campbell powered Missisquoi with two goals and an assist, while Hannah Bockus recorded 19 saves.
Daisy Sullivan scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal off an assist from Jordan Harmon. Meg Chandler delivered 27 stops.
STRATTON -- Mount Anthony Union High School sophomore Jessie Kuzmicki took second in a U-16 Southern Vermont Council Super G event on Sunday, setting the stage for the state championship at Sugarbush on Friday.
Burr and Burton Academy’s Sanderson Kemp was fourth.
MAU Youth Nights set
BENNINGTON -- The Mount Anthony Union High School Athletic Department is once again sponsoring a pair of youth basketball nights for the boys and girls area youth basketball players.
The boys night will be on Tuesday, when the Patriot JV and varsity boys basketball teams host Hoosick Falls with JV starting at 6 p.m. All boys playing MAYAA Basketball will be admitted free of charge by wearing their game jerseys.
The girls night will be Friday, Feb. 15, when the MAU JV and varsity girls basketball teams will host Rutland. JV action starts at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity. All girls playing MAYAA Basketball will be admitted free of charge by wearing their game jerseys.
At the halftime of each junior varsity game there will be a 10-minute exhibition game featuring MAYAA teams and a drawing for a basketball signed by the varsity team will be held after the exhibition game.
Pownal Cal Ripken
POWNAL -- Sign-up for the Pownal Cal Ripken baseball league will take on Monday and Wednesday at the Pownal Elementary School from 5 to 6:15 p.m.
The league is open to all Pownal and surrounding area children ages 4 to 12. Children 9 and up can play in Cal Ripken sanctioned tournaments.

BYSL hosts sign-up
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Young Women’s Softball League is hosting their annual sign-ups. All girls ages 7-12 as of January 1 are encouraged to sign up.
Returning player sign-ups will be held Tuesday, at the Bennington Fire House on River Street from 6 to 7 p.m. New player sign-ups will be held Feb. 26 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
All first-year players should bring a copy of their birth certificate. Registration fee is $35 for 1 child, $50 for 2 children/family, and $70 for 3 or more.

Monument Soccer sign-ups
BENNINGTON -- The Monument Soccer Club has sign-ups at the Bennington Sports Center.
Monument is a soccer club that participates in the Capital District Youth Soccer League in the spring and runs from April-June with a 10-game season.
Any interested boy or girl from U8-U18 can sign up.

Lax officials training
BENNINGTON -- The Vermont Lacrosse Officials Association will be offering training clinics throughout the state for individuals interested in officiating boys lacrosse.
The clinics will include 2 man mechanics, technical and personal fouls, field mechanics, proper signaling, verbal and visual communication, penalty enforcement and pre and post game preparation. The clinics are free and pre-registration is required. The clinics will be held on the following days and locations:

Zemianek road race returns May 5
BENNINGTON -- The 35th annual Steve Zemianek Road Race will take place on May 5 at the Park-McCullough House in North Bennington.
There are three different runs, a 3.8-mile course, a 10K course and a half-mile fun run for children.
The entry fee is $15 to pre-register and $3 for the fun run. A family of four can register at a reduced rate of $40.
Awards will be given to the top male and female runner and the top three in each age group.
