HOOSICK, N.Y. -- Ten players scored for Hoosick Falls Central School as the Panthers rolled past Wasaren League rival Cambridge, 65-20, in boys basketball action on Wednesday night.
Andrew Hoag led the way for Hoosick Falls (7-7 overall, 6-5 league) with 10 points and 10 assists. Randy Tutunjian added nine and Austin Pitt eight.
Hoosick Falls raced out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Ryan Jeskie paced Cambridge (0-12, 0-10) with 12 points.
MAU goes 3-0
VERGENNES -- The Mount Anthony Union High School wrestling team stormed to a trio of victories in a four-team dual meet at Vergennes on Wednesday.
The undefeated Patriots beat Mount Mansfield (70-6), Vergennes (77-3) and Champlain Valley (63-6) in lopsided showdowns.
Eleven wrestlers finished the day 3-0, including Troy Gassaway, Dylan LaFountain, Kyle Fletcher, Miguel Calixto, Bailey Willard, Houston Shaler, Damon Young, Tyler Mattison, Brandon Marcoux-Schaefer, Jack Luciano and Jesse Webb. Jacob Woodside and Ezra Caron went 2-1 on the day.
S. Vt. Stars tryouts
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Stars AAU basketball team are having tryouts for an elite traveling girls’ team.
Tryouts are Feb. 3 and 10 at Arlington Memorial High School at a time to be announced. It’s mandatory to attend at least two of the three tryout dates.
Anyone is eligible to try out, but serious candidates should have the equivalent of a varsity skill level.

Monument Soccer signups
BENNINGTON -- The Monument Soccer Club has sign-ups next week at the Bennington Sports Center. Monument is a soccer club that participates in the Capital District Youth Soccer League in the spring and runs from April-June with a 10-game season.
Any interested boy or girl from U8-U18 can sign up.

Zemianek road race returns May 5
BENNINGTON -- The 35th annual Steve Zemianek Road Race will take place on May 5 at the Park-McCullough House in North Bennington.
There are three different runs, a 3.8-mile course, a 10K course and a half-mile fun run for children.
The entry fee is $15 to pre-register and $3 for the fun run. A family of four can register at a reduced rate of $40.
Awards will be given to the top male and female runner and the top three in each age group.
