PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Taconic (Mass.) raced to a 15-2 first-quarter lead and never looked back against Mount Anthony High School, finishing with a 67-30 interstate boys basketball victory Friday night.
Taconic got 28 points from Shaq Ardrey and led 29-15 at halftime.
Aaryngston Bibens paced MAU (0-3) with 16 points while James Levin added nine.
MAU swimmers dominate
BENNINGTON -- The Mount Anthony Union High School boys and girlsswim teams continued their winning ways Friday afternoon against St. Joseph's (Pittsfield, Mass.). The MAU girls won by the score of 117-51 while the boys prevailed 107-25.
Double winners for the girls were Kate Ahearn in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, Kate Montague in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Heather Foley won the 100 free, Phebe Hall the 500 free and April Foley in the 100 breast. The girls also won all three relays.
On the boys side, double winners were Ryan Spencer in the 100 back and 200 IM, Austin Becker Ulrich in the 500 free and 100 breast, and Brian Steinhoff in the 100 fly.
The boys also won all three of their relays. Both Patriot squads improve to 3-0 on the season.
Eagles clip Blue Mountain
ARLINGTON -- Three players hit double figures for the Arlington Memorial High School boys basketball team Friday night as the Eagles clipped Blue Mountain, 65-61, in a Division IV showdown at the Eagles' Nest.
Alex Hawley powered Arlington (1-1) with 23 points while Olden Dwyer added 12 and DJ Jennings chipped in with 10. The Eagles are in action again Monday hosting Green Mountain.
Panthers thump Horde
GRANVILLE, N.Y. -- Despite suiting up just seven players, the Hoosick Falls Central School girls basketball team strolled to a lopsided 79-11 win over Granville in Wasaren League action Friday night.
Rachel Pine drained five 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 21 points for the Panthers, one of five players to hit double figures.
Frankie Pearson notched 17 points while Carsen Williams added 16. Olivia Schneider scored 11 points and Kelly Pine hit a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Hoosick topples Granville
HOOSICK, N.Y. -- Nine different Hoosick Falls Central School boys basketball players reached the scoresheet as the Panthers beat Granville 57-31 on Friday night.
Taylor Baker and Randy Tutunjian were the high scorers for Hoosick with nine points apiece. Evan Phillips added eight and Levi Brewster chipped in seven as the Panthers improve to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the Wasaren League.
Hoosick Falls led 26-11 at the half.
For Granville, Jared Beattie led all scorers with 17 points.
Cambridge falls to Witches
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- Sarah Cuddihy led all scorers with 14 points for Cambridge, but Greenwich earned a 54-39 Wasaren League victory on the road Friday night.
Former Cambridge (0-2) player Alexis Case led Greenwich with 13.
Freshman Olivia Mooney added seven for the Indians.
Indians remain winless
GREENWICH, N.Y. -- Cambridge had three scorers in double figures, but so did Greenwich in the Witches' 56-49 Wasaren League win on Friday. Shaeden Mosso led the Indians (0-3) with 17, while Matt Parmenter added 11 and Max McNeil 10.
Greenwich's Colin Oswald led all scorers with 19, while Greg Scott and John Stewart added 11. Greenwich shot 10-for-12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to ice the game.
