MAYAA hosting Hold ‘Em tourney

BENNINGTON -- The Mount Anthony Youth Athletic Association basketball league will host a Texas Hold ‘Em fundraiser tournament on Friday at the Elks Lodge in Bennington.

Registration will begin at 6 p.m. and the cards are dealt at 6:30. Buy-in is $40. For more information, visit mayaabasketball.com.

BKVR meeting Dec. 3

ARLINGTON -- The Batten Kill Valley Runners club is hosting an open meeting on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Arlington Community House on Route 7A to discuss upcoming races.

Also, the BKVR is looking for people to donate shoes to raise money for poor school districts. For more details on the meeting and the shoes, call Jack Quinn at 802-375-9655.

SVC baseball camp

BENNINGTON -- Southern Vermont College baseball and head coach Dave Gage are now accepting registrations for the 2012 SVC Baseball Winter Camp, being held in the Mountaineer Athletic Center on December 27 and 28.

The camp is open to players from first grade to high school seniors. Kids from 1-6 will participate in a morning session (9 a.m. - 11 a.m.) and all 7-12 grade campers attending a separate afternoon session (12 p.m. - 2 p.m.).

Accompanying Gage will be SVC assistant coach Robby Hisert, as well as current Mountaineers.

The goal of the camp is to help each player develop skills that can be used in high school and beyond. Each camper will be instructed and evaluated in a skills setting.

The cost is $80 per player and personal checks will not be accepted later than five days prior to the camp.
