PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- Chris LaCroix tallied on a corner kick midway through the second half to lift the Hoosick Falls Central School boys soccer team to a 1-0 win against Lake Placid in the Class C regional championship game Saturday.
Evan Phillips delivered the game-winning assist with service on the corner, which LaCroix chested over the line, according to Hoosick Falls (17-5) coach Mike Young.
"It was a great corner kick, on a dime," Young said.
"I definitely think we had the better of the opportunities," Young said. "We had a good defensive game plan. We scouted them very well."
The Panthers face Section IV champion Lansing in the semifinals at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday at Middletown High School.
Goalkeeper Noah Chani stopped four shots for Hoosick Falls on Saturday, including a sprawling effort to repel a dangerous, goal-bound free kick in the first half.
