HOOSICK, N.Y. -- It was almost over before it began.

When it did, the Hoosick Falls Central School football team came out firing on all cylinders, leaving Corinth in the dust.

The Panthers, ranked second in New York state in Class C, scored on all but one possession in the first half and on the first play of the second half in a 47-0 rout over the Tomahawks, improving to 6-0.

Senior Billy Pine went 7-for-8 for 200 yards and three touchdowns in the first 24 minutes to give Hoosick Falls a big lead early. His main target was classmate Randy Tutunjian, who caught five passes for 141 yards and two of the touchdowns.

"We've been [scoring early] all year long," said Hoosick Falls coach Ron Jones. "The skill players are getting better every week, finishing the plays and getting into the end zone."

After forcing Corinth to punt on the first possession, senior Brad Burns got the Panthers on the board less than four minutes in on a 15-yard touchdown run, one of four scores on the ground.

On the play, he passed his brother Jon's mark for career rushing at Hoosick Falls. Brad Burns rushed for 127 yards on the night, putting his total at 3,263 for his career.

Burns also made his presence felt on the next drive. After leading the charge from his linebacker position to stop Corinth senior Kyle Mulcahy on a 4th-and-1 close to midfield for no gain, Burns took the second play from scrimmage down the left side for a 33-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0. It was Burns' 14th rushing score of the season.

"They have a big line and we knew they were going to try to stop Brad," Pine said. "We have one of the best [receivers] in Section II in Randy. With all the focus on Brad, it makes it easy with Randy."

Corinth reached the Hoosick Falls side of the field only twice on the night. The first time, Tomahawks defensive end Caleb Tucker caused Pine to fumble, but a sack on fourth down on the next drive by Brandon Hodges put the Panthers in business.

On the first play, Pine tossed a screen pass to Burns, who did the rest en route to a 47-yard touchdown as the first quarter came to a close.

"They can see what we're doing," Higgins said. "We put seven in the box, they throw outside. You just pick your poison."

Pine wasn't done. In the second quarter he threw a 48-yard and 37-yard touchdown pass to Tutunjian on consecutive possessions to make it 40-0.

"They're a versatile team, they run and throw," said Corinth coach Jeff Higgins. "They have speed and play hard and stay together. They were better than us and they'll go a long way."
