BENNINGTON -- Jordyn Haynes and Grace Delurey each finished off hat tricks as high-powered Hoosick Falls Central School rolled over Brattleboro, 6-0, in the opening round of the Lady Patriot Tournament on Thursday at Spinelli Field.

The two-time defending champs -- and reigning New York state champion in Class C -- got three goals in each half of a convincing win. The Panthers (1-0) outshot the Colonels 18-3 in their season-opener.

Haynes had two assists to go with the three tallies.

"I think our athleticism was the biggest difference today," HFCS coach Tom Husser said. "The girls had been dying to play a real game. They were fired up."

Delurey scored the first goal of the year in the eighth minute and picked up her second minutes later for a 2-0 edge. Haynes provided the next three strikes, including two in the first three minutes after halftime.

Goalkeeper Hannah Fricke made just three saves for HFCS.
