Panther golfers take third match in a row

POULTNEY, Vt. -- The Hoosick Falls Central School won their third match in as many days with a 4-1 win over Granville at Lake St. Catherine Country Club.

The Panthers’ Jake Nolan shot a 47 as the low score for HFCS, his career-best score, according to coach Pam Hatfield.

The medalist was Granville’s Joey Lea, who shot a 44.

Hoosick Falls (4-2) looks to continue their winning streak when they travel today to Frear Park in Troy to face Tamarac at 8 a.m.

MAU wrestling softball tournament

BENNINGTON -- On Sept. 22, the Mount Anthony Union High School wrestling team will host their annual fall one-pitch softball tournament at Upper Willow Park starting at 8 a.m. Entry Fee is $150 per team and to enter your team, contact Wayne Call at 802-952-8932.

Maple Leaf 1/2 marathon

MANCHESTER -- The Maple Leaf Half Marathon and 5K will take place on Sept. 8 in Manchester. The half-marathon begins at 9 a.m. and registration is being capped at 1,000 runners.

The Maple Leaf is honoring the late Manchester Chamber executive director Jay Hathaway, and is being presented by the Perfect Wife Restaurant, the Spiral Press Café, MVP Health Care, Orvis, as well as 40 additional local business partners. All net proceeds from the race will go to local nonprofit organizations and deserving individuals.

Bennington Youth Bowling

BENNINGTON -- Registration for Bennington Youth Bowling will take place at Bennington Lanes on Sept. 8 and 15 from 9:30 to noon.

All Bennington-area youth from 6 to 19 are invited to join the league, which begins Sept. 22. Registration fee is $15 and people must pre-register to participate.

Bowlers wanted

BENNINGTON -- The Senior Citizen’s Mixed Bowling League at Bennington Lanes is looking for bowlers to play in this year’s league.

Bowlers must be over 50 to qualify. League matches are held every Friday at 2 p.m. and the season begins on Sept. 7.
