The Marauders will compete again this weekend at the Vermont Swimming Championships in White River Junction.
Storm game moved
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Storm game scheduled for Saturday in Manchester against the Southern New Hampshire Beavers has been switch to an away game in Tyngsborough, Mass., the Beavers’ home field. Game time remains 7 p.m.
BYSL registration
BENNINGTON -- Registration for the Bennington Youth Soccer League’s fall season will end today.
The BYSL is open to all residents of Bennington, Pownal, and Woodford with children who are in grades K - 6. You can find registration information online at www.benningtonyouthsoccer.com
Forms may also be picked up at Bennington Sports and Graphics on Main Street.
Fees: K to 3rd graders: $50. Travel Teams (4th - 6th graders): $60. Reduced fee scholarships are available. Volunteer parents are needed as coaches, assistant coaches and on the BYSL board.
Summer tennis camps
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Tennis Center is hosting summer youth camps for kids ages 8 to 18. There will be sessions on July 31-Aug. 3, Aug. 7-10 and Aug. 14-17.
The camps, led by pros Seth Gabriel and Dan Rowe, run Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kids will participate in various warm up activities followed by drills, games and other tennis-related activities.

Junior golf camp
BENNINGTON -- Mount Anthony Country Club head pro Doug Ruttle will hold an instructional camp for junior golfers between ages 8 and 16 this summer. The session will take place Aug. 14 to 17, costing $99 per junior golfer, payable to Douglas A. Ruttle, PGA. Sign-up forms are available at the golf course.
Storm football camp
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Storm is hosting a youth football camp from August 6-9.
The camp, for kids 8 to 12 years old, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon each day at the the Vermont Veterans Home on North Street.
Registrations will be taken until the day before the camp.
Former Mount Anthony Union High School football coach and Storm player Jim Fischer will work with the kids to teach the fundamentals and techniques of football. It will also provide instruction on all aspects of the game such as running, throwing, catching, blocking, tackling and speed drills.
Current Storm and MAU players will also be at the camp. The cost is $60. Shoulder pads and helmets will be supplied, so players are asked to bring cleats, mouth guard, shorts and football pants.

Moonlight race coming
POWNAL -- The annual "Moonlight in Vermont" midnight road race returns Saturday along with the Community Ramble, giving both runners and walkers the opportunity to participate in the light of the full moon.
The four-mile road race begins at the stroke of midnight from the Pownal Valley fire station at the top of the hill on Route 7 in Pownal Center. The course follows secondary paved and dirt roads through the hills and dales of rural Pownal, with luminaries positioned at regular intervals to keep runners on course.
Awards will be given to overall male and female winners, as well as the top three finishers in seven age categories. The non-competitive two-mile Community Ramble will begin at 12:10 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the first, youngest and oldest Pownal residents -- and the individual judged "Most Visible in the Moonlight" -- and door prizes will be offered.
The events are being organized by the Batten Kill Valley Runners and Pownal community members to benefit the Pownal Valley Fire Department and are sponsored in part by Vermont Moonlight Cookies.
The entry fee is $15 for pre-registration and $18 on race night. BKVR members, students and Pownal residents receive a $3 discount. Check-in begins at 10:30 p.m. Applications are available at www.bkvr.org and the Solomon Wright Public Library.
Triple Crown archery
BENNINGTON -- The Catamount Bowhunters Club will host a two-day archery weekend on August 4 and 5 at the club on Fuller Road.
Saturday’s event is the premlinary round for the Vermont Triple Crown and Sunday will be a second Triple Crown qualifier and the regular 3D competition.
Registration will begin at 7 a.m. both days, ending at 2 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
The qualifying rounds will cost $25 per competitor, while the 3D event is $10 for adults, $5 for ages (12-15) and free for under 11.
Carpooling is encouraged as it will be a busy weekend and parking is limited. Members and non-members of the club are welcome.

SVC basketball camp
BENNINGTON -- Southern Vermont College will host the Mountaineer basketball camp the week of Aug. 6. The camp will focus on individual skill development and fundamentals of team play.
The camp will be run by head coach Mike McDonough and assistant coach Dave Bromirski, along with former and current Mountaineer players.
It will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day and is for students grades 5-9. The cost is $100 and participants will receive an SVC T-shirt and personalized camp evaluation.

Lee Goldsmith tourney
BENNINGTON -- Teams of high school athletes can now register for the 2012 Lee Goldsmith Memorial Soccer Tournament, set for Willow Park on Aug. 11.
The tournament, organized in memory of Lee Goldsmith, a former player at Mount Anthony Union High School who succumbed to cancer in 2009, is open to student-athletes enrolled in high school as of September 2012.
The seven-a-side tourney consists of half-hour games using large goals and no offside rule. Registration costs $70 per team -- teams must be all-male or co-ed only. Teams must register by Aug. 10 by calling Jeremy Neill (802-833-5969) or emailing him at jneill@svsu.org. Play begins at 11 a.m.
Bat Brats host tryouts
BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Bat Brats are looking for experienced pitchers and position players to join our growing organization for the fall 2012 and spring/summer 2013 season. Tryouts will take place on Aug. 11.
There is currently have one U-12 and one U-14 team. Interested players should call their age group coach with questions and to pre-register for tryouts.

Blue Lollipop Road
BENNINGTON -- Blue Lollipop Road hosts Mount Anthony Union High School’s women’s soccer alumni weekend. Play It Forward events will take place August 17 and August 18 in Bennington and Shaftsbury:
* A Welcome Back Party will be at Madison Brewing Company on the 17th at 7 p.m.
* The Strong Mojo summit (11:30 a.m.) and alumni soccer game (1 p.m.) will be at Howard Park in Shaftsbury on August 18. All alumni are encouraged to register to participate/play.
* A Memorial Scholarship will be awarded in honor of Maria Greene and Brandy Brown, two former MAU soccer players who were killed in a car accident in 1994.
* 25 years of MAU women’s soccer will be celebrated and former coaches will be recognized.
