BENNINGTON -- After losing twice this season to Lakes Region, the Bennington Post 13 Legion baseball team took revenge in a big way on Thursday.

Post 13 blasted out eight hits and scored 10 runs in the fourth inning as Bennington run-ruled Lakes Region, 16-6, at Spinelli Field.

"It's great to see the offense come through and put some good swings on the ball," said assistant coach Dan Pierce. "There weren't any bleeders, all hard hit line drives."

It was a close game until the bottom of the fourth. After Lakes Region scored two runs in the top of the inning to pull within 4-3, nine straight Post 13 hitters reached.

Leading off the inning against Jonas Hamilton, Tanner Williams and Matt Parmenter reached on hits. The next batter, Tyler Kunzmann, drove them both home with a long double. Cody LaFlamme's single put runners at first and third for Zach Bahan, who crushed a long home run to left to give Post 13 a 9-3 advantage.

The shot was Bahan's third round-tripper on the season, as part of a 4-RBI effort.

But Hamilton's nightmare wasn't over yet. Two singles and a walk re-loaded the bases and Nick Solari drove in another run with a basehit. Hamilton got the first out on Williams' second at-bat of the frame, then struck out Kunzmann and LaFlamme, but not before three more runs scored on wild pitches.

All that offense was more than enough for Kunzmann, who won his fourth game. He pitched five innings, allowing six runs (five earned) and four hits while walking two and striking out eight.

Dan Brown took the loss for Lakes Region, allowing three runs in the first inning.

Bennington improves to 14-3 in the Southern Division and 15-4 overall. They have four games remaining and a one-game lead on Rutland for the top spot in next week's state tournament.
