Dinner at Sacred Heart St. Francis DeSales

Worship at St. Peter's

BENNINGTON >> The Rev. Justin Lanier will preside as we celebrate the Eucharist on the last Sunday of Epiphany, February 7, at the 8 a.m. service. At this service we use the Book of Common Prayer Rite I. At the 10 a.m. service the Holy Eucharist will be celebrated using Rite II with singing and music.

On Wednesday, Feb. 10, Lanier will conduct Evening Prayer and Contemplative Prayer from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Feb. 11, Lanier will lead the Eucharist at 10 a.m. in the Chapel.

Worship at Second Congo

BENNINGTON >> At the beginning of what can often be a dark and dreary month, come join us at Second Congregational Church as we celebrate the Source of the Radiance on this Transfiguration Sunday. Worship begins at 10 a.m. and includes a Time for the Children in All of Us, sharing "Epiphany moments" of catching glimpses of the Holy in our everyday lives. Children up through grade 5 are then dismissed for Godly Play and the Middle- and High-school Class meets. Rev. Mary Lee-Clark's sermon is entitled, "The Light Within," and all are invited to join in the celebration of Communion.

A time of fellowship and refreshment for the whole church family follows in Webster Hall, and the Refugee Support group meets at 11:30.

Worship in North Bennington

BENNINGTON >> The North Bennington Congregational Church welcomes everyone to its 11 AM Worship Service. Holy Communion will be celebrated. The Meditation, "A Glimpse of God's Glory," will be based on Exodus 34: 29-35 and Luke 9: 28-36. There will be a children's time, after which Sunday School classes will meet for pre-school through grade 8.

Everyone is invited to stay for coffee hour and a time of fellowship following the service.

Transfiguration Sunday and Ash Wednesday

EAST ARLINGTON >> As we end the season of Epiphany and look ahead to the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday on Feb. 10, all people of faith or in search of faith are warmly invited to join in the 10 a.m. Service of Worship on Sunday, February 7 at the Federated Church of East Arlington on Ice Pond Road. This being the first Sunday of the month, all are invited to participate in the Sacrament of Holy Communion and to bring non-perishable food items for the Arlington Food Shelf. On this Transfiguration Sunday, the scripture passage tells of Jesus' mountaintop experience with Peter, James and John as found in Luke 9:28-36. The Rev. Kathy Clark's message about how we are transformed is titled, "Changed." The choir will offer their gift of music under the direction and accompaniment of Mary Edwards. There is no church school this week but all children are invited to fully participate in the service, including communion. A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow the service in Bailey Hall.

The two services on Ash Wednesday, February 10 at the Federated Church will be at 12 noon and 7:00 p.m. when all are invited to begin the season of Lent with prayer, hymns, scripture and story as well as the voluntary reception of ashes. Once again the Federated Church will partner with St. James' Episcopal Church in offering Ashes To Go. Anyone who would like to receive ashes and a prayer of blessing from the comfort of their car or on foot or bike are invited to pull up in front of St. James' on Church Street off of Route 7A (across from Stewart's in Arlington). Ashes to Go will be offered at 7:30-9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m- 1:00 p.m. and 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Senior meals are served on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon in Bailey Hall. The Federated Church of East Arlington is a local church in covenant and connection with the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist Church. Pancake Supper in Shaftsbury

SHAFTSBURY >> On Tuesday Feb. 9, at 6 p.m., there will be a free "Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper" that is open to all at the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church. Pancakes, sausage, Vermont Maple Syrup, and coffee and tea will be served. A "free-will" offering will be held to benefit the "Carpenter's Workshop" Food Shelf.

Free Chicken and Biscuit Supper

POWNAL >> The Pownal United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Route 346 and Church Street will be serving its annual Free Presidents Day Chicken and Biscuit Supper on Monday, Feb. 15, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. or until gone. Everyone is welcome to attend. No reservations are needed. Donations will be accepted of canned foods etc. or money to benefit the Pownal Food Pantry which is located in the church. The menu includes: homemade chicken and baking powder biscuits, cranberry sauce, assorted desserts (cookies, cupcakes, brownies), and coffee, tea, or lemonade. Lenten Fish Fry

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. >> Lenten fish fry: St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cambridge will be having a fish fry dinner during Lent from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. On the following dates every Friday: Feb. 12, 19, 26, March 4, 11, and 18.
